Workshop Adaptive Designs and Multiple Testing Procedures 2019

                    - Adaptive Design in Individualized Therapy -

May 8-10, 2019, in Münster (Germany)

The University of Münster is hosting the upcoming annual Workshop of the joint working group on "Adaptive Designs and Multiple Testing Procedures" of the German and Austro-Swiss Regions of the International Biometric Society. It is organized by the Institute of Biostatistics and Clinical Research of the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster.

The Workshop has become the traditional venue of the Europaen researchers on Adaptive Designs and Multiple Testing. It provides the opportunity to present, discuss and learn the latest developments, applications and case studies in these research areas and to meet colleagues from academia, industry and regulatory agencies that are interested in these fields.

We invite to submit abstracts for contributed talks on the topics of Adaptive Designs and Multiple Testing using our abstract submission form (for more details, see below). Deadline for abstract submission is March 15, 2019.

This years workshop is themed Adaptive Design in Individualized Therapy. There will be topic-specific sessions where the results of the eponymous BMBF-project ADIT are presented. The overall objective of the BMBF-project ADIT was to combine the flexibility of adaptive designs for clinical trials with new requirements and dynamic developments of individualized therapy approaches.

In addition to the contributed talks there will be an invited session entitled Adaptive Designs und multiple Testprozeduren - Ein Rückblick und Ausblick on the occasion of the 75th birthday of Gerhard Hommel. Confirmed invited speakers are Peter Bauer and Frank Bretz.

Registration for the workshop is possible until April 15, 2019.

We are looking forward to welcome you in Münster.

Rene Schmidt, Robert Kwiecien, Ellen Boldt and Andreas Faldum

This workshop is explicitly understood as forum to present and discuss not only completed work but also work in progress in front of an expert audience. Contributions may therefore be submitted either as classical talk on results of completed research or as talk on work in progress on the topics of Adaptive Designs and Multiple Testing. For contributions on work in progress, the discussion part will be organized bilaterally, i.e. not only the auditory may ask questions to the speaker but the presenter is also explicitly invited to address questions to the audience in order to ask for hints concerning pending mathematical issues related to his talk.

To strengthen this workshop character, contributed talks can be submitted as either:

  • Talk on Completed Research (25 min talk + up to 5 min discussion): During the discussion, only questions from the audience are foreseen. No questions to the audience.
  • Talk on Work in Progress (20 min talk + up to 10 min discussion): During the discussion, questions from the audience, as well as up to three questions are allowed from the speaker to the audience concerning pending mathematical issues related to his talk.

Please indicate your preferred option on the abstract submission form. If you choose for the option "Talk on Work in Progress" you are invited to pre-specify your questions to the audience on the abstract submission form in order to enable more fruitful discussion.

Registration for the workshop is possible until April 15, 2019. To register to the workshop, please send in due time the completed registration form electronically to
